    Easy 20-Minute Air Fryer Brie in Puff Pastry Recipe

    This air fryer brie recipe is an easy and quick holiday appetizer you can make in just 20 minutes! Creamy melted cheese paired with crispy puff pastry, sweet honey, and dates make a perfect gooey addition to your holiday appetizer table or cheeseboard.

    Air fryer brie is the perfect appetizer to make for special occasions. This recipe literally could not be any easier!

    If you like this recipe you will love these brie and cranberry bites, goat cheese stuffed dates, or prosciutto-wrapped asparagus which are another one of my favorite easy appetizers for the holidays.

    Puff pastry is usually found in the frozen foods section of the grocery store. You will need to defrost it before making this air fryer brie.

    Crescent rolls are another option for the crust.

    Brie is a soft and delicious cheese with rich flavor. Use a wheel of brie for this recipe.

    An egg is beaten and then spread along the puff pastry to create a crispy outside exterior.

    Use soft, pitted dates for the jam. Figs can be used to make fig jam in place of dates.

    Fresh fruits, apricot preserves, cranberry sauce, or other fruit preserves may also be placed on the top of the puff pastry.

    Honey is drizzled over the top of the cooked brie for extra flavor and sweetness. You can also use maple syrup or sprinkle a bit of brown sugar over the top.

    How to Make Air Fryer Baked Brie

    Below are step-by-step instructions for how to cook this recipe. The recipe card at the bottom shows the exact cooking time and temperatures.

    Step 1

    Preheat the air fryer for 5 minutes at 350F.

    Unwrap the outer packaging from the brie wheel and place it onto the defrosted puff pastry sheet. Keep the outer rind intact and place the cheese in the center of the pastry.

    Carefully wrap the pastry around the brie. If there is extra dough around the bottom, you can either leave it or carefully cut it off with a knife.

    Step 3

    Place the covered brie into the basket. Use a pastry brush to gently and evenly brush the egg wash over both sides of the appetizer.

    Step 4

    Air fry brie at 350F for 10 minutes, flip it, and air fry it for an additional 3-5 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown on both sides.

    • For easier cleanup, use a piece of parchment paper to line the air fryer basket.
    • Make a savory version by topping it with pesto, bacon, and a drizzle of olive oil instead of dates and honey.
    • Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
    • Make ahead: This air fryer brie is super easy to make ahead - up to 2 days. Cover with plastic wrap until ready to bake.
    • Freezer: This recipe freezes well and can be fried again. Allow it to defrost in the refrigerator prior to air frying.

    What temperature do you heat up brie?

    Reheat wrapped brie in the air fryer at 350F for 5-7 minutes or until hot and the cheese is melted.

    Can I take the rind off of the brie before baking?

    You do not need to cut the rind off prior to frying the brie. It is edible and helps the cheese to hold together.

    Do you have to bake brie before serving?

    Brie is a great appetizer that can be served cold or warm and melty. To serve it cold, you can cut it into wedges and serve it with crackers, sourdough bread, or baguette slices.

    Why is my brie rubbery?

    Generally, brie becomes rubbery when it comes out of the outer rind during baking. Puff pastry keeps the brie inside of the wheel preventing the melty brie cheese from becoming rubbery.

    • 1 Air Fryer
    • 1 sheet of parchment paper

    Ingredients

    • 7 oz brie cheese wheel
    • 1 sheet puff pastry about 8.5 ounces
    • 1 medium egg
    • 1 tablespoon honey
    • ⅓ cup dates pitted and diced

    Instructions

    • Preheat the air fryer for 5 minutes at 350F.
    • Unwrap outer packaging from brie wheel and place onto defrosted puff pastry sheet.
      7 oz brie cheese wheel, 1 sheet puff pastry
    • Carefully wrap puff pastry around brie. If you choose you can cut off excess puff pastry on the bottom.
    • Place brie into basket and brush with egg wash.
      1 medium egg
    • Fry at 350F for 10 minutes, flip and fry for an additional 3-5 minutes or until the puff pastry is browned on both sides.
    • Top the baked brie with a drizzle of honey and chopped dates.
      1 tablespoon honey, ⅓ cup dates

    Notes

    • Savory version: top with pesto instead of dates and honey.
