    Ingredients & Substitutions

Here are the ingredients you need to make this recipe. Reference the recipe card at the bottom for exact measurements and the notes below for substitution ideas.

    Greek Salmon Ingredients

labeled shot of salmon ingredients on a sheet pan.

I recommend wild Alaskan sockeye salmon fillets for their high quality and flavor. Fresh salmon is available in the seafood section of the grocery store. It comes fresh or frozen.

I used tzatziki seasoning for my Greek salmon. You can also use a mixture of equal parts (1 teaspoon each) of garlic powder, onion powder, and thyme along with 2 teaspoon oregano to make your own Greek seasoning.

Salt and pepper can be added if your Greek seasoning does not have salt.

Lemon juice helps to bring freshness and acidity.

Olive oil helps to lock in moisture during baking.

Cucumber, Tomato & Feta Salad Ingredients

labeled shot of cucumber salad ingredients on a white background.

Olive oil provides a simple Greek dressing for the cucumber salad. Swap oil for Greek yogurt or tzatziki sauce for a creamy sauce.

Fresh dill provides fresh herb flavor. You may use fresh or dried dill.

Other fresh herbs like fresh parsley or mint work.

Lemon juice helps to bring an acidic flavor to this fresh salad. You can also add a bit of the lemon zest.

English cucumbers diced into small pieces provide fresh flavor and crunch to the salad.

Red onion provides crunch, texture, and flavor. You can omit onions, but they do bring a delicious flavor element.

Feta cheese is a popular cheese in many Greek salmon recipes. You can omit feta cheese for a dairy-free recipe.

Cherry tomatoes provide a slightly sweet flavor element that helps to round out the salad's savory flavors.

Kalamata olives are an optional ingredient present in many Greek salmon recipes. You can include them if you like.

How to Make Sheet Pan Salmon

Below are step-by-step instructions for how to cook this recipe. The recipe card at the bottom shows the exact cooking time and temperatures.

    Step 1

oiled raw salmon on parchment paper.

Dry the fish with a paper towel. Place the fillet on a sheet pan on top of parchment paper. Rub olive oil over the top of the raw fillet.

    Step 2

seasoned salmon on white parchment paper.

Season the fillet with salt, pepper, and Greek seasoning.

    Oven Instructions

    baked salmon on parchment paper.

Place the baking sheet pan in a cold oven. Turn the oven on to 400F and set a timer for 20 minutes.

    Air Fryer Instructions

Air fry at 400F for 7 minutes or until the desired doneness.

    How to Grill Greek Salmon

Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.

Place the seasoned fillets on the grill, skin side down first, and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until the salmon is cooked through.

What is the best cooking method for salmon?

There is no one best way to cook it. Air frying salmon, grilling it, oven baking it and pan searing it and they all have produced great results.

In my experience, air-frying salmon seems to be the fastest method, oven-baked salmon produces the most consistent results, and grilling is the best for a smoky flavor.

How to Make the Cucumber Greek Salad Topping

    Step 1

Add cucumber salad ingredients to a large bowl.

    Step 2

combined cucumber salad ingredients in a glass bowl with a spoon on a white marble background.

    Gently mix to incorporate.

    Step 3

greek salmon topped with lemons and Greek cucumber salad on white parchment paper.

Top cooked Greek salmon with cucumber salad and serve.

    How to Serve Greek Salmon

Serve Greek salmon over romaine lettuce in a salad bowl for an easy weeknight dinner.

Serve fillets as a main dish with a side of creamy mashed potatoes, rice, sweet potato wedges, quinoa, orzo, couscous, red potatoes, or your favorite grain.

Veggie sides like seasoned broccoli or crispy asparagus are all great vegetable side dishes for salmon.

Mix cooked salmon into a creamy pasta recipe like baked feta pasta.

Pair with a spinach salad or put on top of a Mediterranean bowl or warm quinoa bowl.

    Storage and Reheating

Store leftover Greek salmon in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.

Reheat leftovers on a sheet pan in the oven at 350F for 3-5 minutes or until heated through.

Use the air fryer to reheat the Greek salmon at 350F for 3 minutes or until heated through.

    Other Expert Tips

Select the most fresh seafood possible. Fresh salmon should be bright pink or orange and have a neutral or mild smell.

Add some sliced lemons on top of the salmon prior to baking for a stronger lemon flavor.

Do not overcook the salmon! Check the salmon on the earlier side of the time range to ensure it does not become overcooked.

If you are using frozen salmon fillets, be sure to fully defrost them before cooking. Also, allow salmon to come to room temperature for about 20 minutes prior to baking to ensure even cooking.

    Recipe FAQs

How do you tell if salmon is cooked?

The easiest way to tell if it is cooked is to use an instant-read thermometer and insert it into the thickest part of the fish. The internal temperature when it is done is 120F for wild salmon and 125F for cooked salmon according to America's Test Kitchen.

Another indication that it is cooked is that it flakes easily with a fork.

How long do you bake salmon at 400F?

The best way to bake salmon at 400F is to use the cold oven method made famous by the Pioneer Woman.

By using this method, you place the prepared salmon in a cold oven and turn it on to 400F. Allow it to cook for 20 minutes and it will turn out perfectly.

Is it better to bake salmon at 350F or 400F?

It depends on the type of fillet you are trying to achieve. For a crispy outside edge and skin, 400F is the method to use. For a milder result, bake at 350F.

How long does cooked salmon last in the fridge?

Cooked salmon can be stored in the refrigerator in an airtight container for 3 to 4 days according to the USDA.
